Overview
Educates team members as required for their specific roles and hazards which they are exposed to or are responsible for mitigation of, based off OSHA, NFPA, and Ajinomoto safety programs. Confirmation of compliance with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to environmental health and safety. Partner with, and advise management, supervisors, employees and the Environmental Representative to ensure compliance with all regulations. Special focus on awareness education as well as annual requirements will be tasked under this role.
Qualifications
- EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
5+ years of experience in the administration of safety programs in a manufacturing facility which included chemical, mechanical and automated machinery
Experience with regulations, codes, and standards which encompass safety program requirements
OSHA10 and or 30-hour training for General Industry is required
- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of and experience with ISO 45001 Safety (including, OSHA Regulations, ANZI, NFPA, and NIOSH Standards)
Computer knowledge (Microsoft Office, Velocity, Litmos, UKG, etc.)
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels in the organization, as well as external agencies
Excellent listening skills
Ability to multi-task and redirect focus instantly in an emergency situation
Ability to remain calm in the event of an emergency
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Understanding and competency in computer-based applications
Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects to meet legal and company deadlines
Able to manage direct reports to achieve safety goals and complete and implement safety projects
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Fast paced bio-chemical/chemical/dry blending manufacturing environment working both in office & plant settings. This position may perform activities in an environment containing hazardous elements and requiring safety awareness and adherence to all safety policies and guidelines. This position may perform activities in an environment containing possible electrical hazards and requires knowledge of electrical safety practices and adherence to all safety policies and guidelines. Work must be performed in a safe manner for personal protection and for the protection of other team members. All safety procedures, procedures described in SOPs, JHAs, and support of the ISO standards in all functional areas must be followed, enforced, and strictly complied with.
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sitting, standing, walking, repetitive use of hands/arms/legs, and eye/hand coordination for 4+ hours a day.
Occasional bending, reaching overhead, crouching, balancing, pushing or pulling.
Occasional lifting of 55 lbs.
Position holder may be required to drive a car or truck on occasion.
Responsibilities
- Safety Program Administration
File reports as required by Compliance programs and corporate elements of reporting
Support, update, and write safety programs to ensure we are keeping employees safe while maintaining legal compliance
Ajinomoto A-SIS corporate reporting
Implementation of Safety Objectives and KPl's
Tracking and Updating OSHA reporting to ITA system
Management of Computer Based Training Application
Managing monthly safety meetings
Managing employee safety committee
Ensuring all new employee onboarding training is completed
Reviewing all new MOCs for proper hazards assessment
Overseeing contractor approval via Gatefeed applications
Ability to investigate safety incidents with the ability to establish solutions to prevent the incident from occurring again
Leading RCA for incidents
Managing plant access controls as required for employees as well as contractors
Have the ability to be called in after hours to respond to safety incidents or injuries and escort injured employees to medical facilities
Primary Management of ISO 45001 and assist with ISO 14001 tasks
Performing ISO required audits, inspections, and drills as scheduled
Safety, Environmental, and Quality Compliance
Stay current on professional development as it pertains to the EH&S field
Utilize safe work habits and follow all policies and procedures
Make sound decisions while not compromising safety, environmental or quality standards
Turn in any hazards as they are identified during work hours to get them corrected as soon as possible
Know and understand all SER related issues including the SER policies and procedures that affect the role; know the location of and comply with all job instructions
Attend regularly scheduled training sessions to stay current on all compliance initiatives
Performing facility audits
Talent and Leadership Development
Create team member development plans
Maintain consistent hiring criteria, performance standards and evaluations
Provide regular performance related feedback to team members
Help identify and challenge future leaders, promote visibility of these team members to the management team
Facilitate employee development strategies and goals
Provide structured training; motivational strategies; team building
Hold people accountable and follow-up with progressive discipline as needed
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
Collaborate with other departments within the company to accomplish tasks/goals
Suggest/implement process improvements, or best practice ideas
Continually strive for increasing processing efficiencies
Complete 5S activities to keep the work area clean and organized following GMP guidelines
Salary Range
$80,000-$90,000 annually
