Responsibilities
Step into a role where your expertise directly protects people, shapes culture, and influences some of the most complex Mission Critical projects in the industry. As a senior member of our Field Management team, you'll be the driving force behind a worldclass safety program that supports highdensity MEP environments, live electrical systems, energization activities, and the construction of cuttingedge data centers.
This is more than a compliance role — it's a strategic leadership position. You'll design and implement safety operations that set the standard for our organization, guide major company decisions, and ensure that every project reflects Shawmut's unwavering commitment to safety, integrity, and excellence.

What You'll Lead
Champion Safety Strategy & Culture
Develop, implement, and continuously elevate safety policies, programs, and operational standards that align with Shawmut's mission and worldclass safety culture.
Serve as a key voice in companywide decisionmaking, ensuring safety is embedded in every strategic initiative.
Build strong relationships with OSHA, owner HSE teams, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance, reduce risk, and protect the organization.
Own Safety Operations for Mission Critical Projects
Oversee safety performance across data centers and highrisk MEP environments, including live electrical work, energization, and commissioning.
Ensure all operations meet or exceed local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA 29 CFR 1926, NFPA 70E, and industry best practices.
Partner with Risk Management on incident claims, workers' compensation, loss control, and returntowork programs.
Lead, Mentor & Develop a HighPerforming Safety Team
Recruit, coach, and develop Project Safety Managers, Site Safety Officers, and department staff.
Drive professional growth through performance management, competency assessments, and succession planning.
Foster a culture of accountability, empowerment, and continuous improvement.
Proactively Identify & Mitigate Risk
Review project schedules, sequencing, and construction activities to identify hazards before work begins.
Lead risk assessments for critical lifts, energization sequences, arc flash exposure, LOTO, fall protection, hazardous materials, and other highrisk operations.
Oversee jobsite inspections, hazard assessments, behavioral observations, and safety audits across all active work areas.
Ensure Excellence in Planning & Documentation
Review and approve subcontractor AHAs, JHAs, and PTPs for highrisk activities.
Develop and maintain sitespecific safety programs including emergency response, fire protection, evacuation, and demolition plans.
Support hazardous material abatement procedures, ensuring teams understand exposure risks and protective measures.
Educate, Communicate & Influence
Deliver engaging safety orientations, toolbox talks, standdowns, and targeted initiatives based on trends and emerging risks.
Coordinate required safety training including OSHA 10/30, competent person certifications, CPR/First Aid, fall protection, scaffolding, confined space, and LOTO.
Serve as a visible safety role model across all jobsites and offices.
Lead Incident Response & Continuous Improvement
Conduct thorough investigations of incidents, near misses, and property damage using rootcause methodologies.
Prepare detailed reports, corrective action plans, and lessons learned for leadership, subcontractors, owners, and regulatory agencies.
Manage emergency response activities including medical coordination, regulatory reporting, and corrective action followthrough.
Drive DataDriven Safety Performance
Track, analyze, and report leading and lagging indicators including TRIR, LTIR, nearmiss trends, inspection scores, and training completion.
Use data insights to influence leadership decisions and strengthen safety performance across the organization.

Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years in Construction Safety Management with a proven track record in Mission Critical Data Center ground up construction in all phases. Proven track record working with insurance companies managing claims/risk/financial exposure. Experience supporting a rapidly growing organization.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in occupational safety/health or equivalent experience
- Certifications:
- Must be First Aid and CPR qualified (or within 1 year of hire).
- OSHA 500 Authorized Instructor
- NFPA 70E
- Additional certifications obtained by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) are preferred
- CHST preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office software including Outlook, Word and Excel. Proficiency with Procore or ability to learn to new systems.
- Additional Role Specific Skills: strong business acumen, extensive people management experience, thorough knowledge of all federal, state, and local safety regulations.
