- VP, Underwriting Manager

JOB DESCRIPTIONAs the Underwriting Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving profitable underwriting results for the business unit by coordinating efforts across various support centers within Chubb Casualty. You will collaborate with Operations, Claims, Actuarial, Loss Control, and all other Chubb North America underwriting units to ensure alignment and excellence. Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Financial:
- Develop and execute business plans and strategies to achieve financial targets in profit, growth, and expense management.
- Proactively monitor results and key performance indicators to ensure objectives are met.
People:
- Lead the hiring and development of business unit staff, fostering a culture of growth and excellence.
- Manage the performance management process to support team success.
Underwriting Processes & Procedures:
- Oversee the underwriting referral process, escalating risks outside of authority to senior leadership as needed.
- Assist in the development and communication of underwriting policies and procedures.
- Monitor and manage service standards to ensure high-quality delivery.
- Lead the audit process, ensuring compliance with established underwriting processes and procedures.
Customer Management:
- Collaborate with the Global Casualty Branch Manager, National Segment Leader, and Regional Executive to execute a distribution strategy that drives profitable growth through effective broker and agent management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree
- 10+ years underwriting experience including time spent in the primary casualty loss sensitive space
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Presentation and public speaking skills
- Strong negotiations skills
- Prior Management Experience in National Accounts Casualty Space
- Local broker and insurance marketplace relationships
- Knowledge and understanding of current insurance marketplace conditions
- Understanding and adherence to organizational and regulatory rules, and ability to adhere to underwriting authority
- Understanding of Workers Compensation, General Liability, and Auto Liability Insurance coverage, terms and conditions - included but not limited to ISO AL & GL and NCCI Workers Compensation coverage forms and endorsements.
- Understanding of large deductible programs and the credit and collateral implications of such programs
- Ability to identify risk exposures, special or common hazards, and appropriate controls. Ability to select risk based on exposure and hazard analysis. Ability to analyze claims and loss trends
