Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled accountant with at least three years of hands-on experience managing day-to-day accounting and payroll. The ideal candidate will have deep familiarity with bookkeeping workflows, payroll processing, and compliance, and preferably hold a CPA designation. This role will begin as a management position, with the potential to grow into a broader client-facing advisory role within Hedgehog.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledgers for multiple clients
Process payroll for W-2 employees and 1099 contractors, ensuring compliance with federal and state requirements
Reconcile bank and credit card accounts on a monthly basis
Prepare monthly financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reports
Track accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections
File and maintain payroll tax returns and related compliance reports
Coordinate with CPAs on tax planning and filings
Support financial analysis and assist in identifying operational improvements for clients
Communicate regularly with clients to answer questions, resolve discrepancies, and provide insight into their numbers
Manage a team of highly skilled remote bookkeepers.

Requirements

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years professional accounting experience
Strong understanding of accounting principles and payroll operations
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Gusto
CPA designation strongly preferred, or in active pursuit
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple client accounts and meet deadlines
