Description
The City of Stockton is seeking an experienced and strategic Risk Manager to lead the Risk Services Division within the Human Resources Department. This is a key leadership role for a results-driven professional who is passionate about protecting people, assets, and operations while advancing a culture of safety and accountability.
The Risk Manager will work a 9/80 schedule, offering a healthy work-life balance:
Mondays–Thursdays: 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Fridays: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with alternating Fridays off
(Some additional hours or weekends may be required, as operational needs arise.)

Risk management and safety programs
Workers’ compensation
General liability and claims administration

Key Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Human Resources, the Risk Manager:
Plans, organizes, coordinates, and administers the work of the Risk Services Division
Leads and oversees comprehensive risk, safety, and claims programs
Collaborates closely with City departments and divisions to manage and mitigate risk
Provides highly complex and sensitive assistance to the Director of Human Resources
Performs related duties as assigned

Requirements
Education/Experience:
Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in human resources management, industrial/organizational psychology, public administration or business administration, or a related field and five years of increasingly responsible experience organizing, maintaining, and managing risk and safety programs in a Human Resources setting, including two years of supervisory experience. Experience in a public agency setting is desirable.
Other Requirements:
Possession of a valid California driver’s license.
Chartered Property Casualty Underwrite (CPCU) and/or Associate of Risk Management (ARM) designation(s) is/are desirable.
