Requirements
This part-time position plays a key leadership role in managing insurance programs such as liability, property, and automobile, as well as safety and wellness programs.
Essential Duties
Renewal and understanding of insurance programs, including liability, property, automobile, crime, cyber, fiduciary, builders' risk, student professional liability, volunteer student accident, National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), and driver's ed bond.
Oversee claim handling processes and adjust claims within the district's deductible. Maintain knowledge of the Colorado Governmental Immunity Act (CGIA) and any applicable state and federal laws to ensure district compliance.
Manage claim reports, financial claim reserves, and interaction with brokers, insurers, third-party administrator adjusters, and department managers.
Develop and monitor the Risk Management budget. Review and submit monthly invoices pertaining to risk-related expenses.
Promote and monitor safety through one-on-one interactions and presentations; coordinate discussions with internal personnel to ensure loss control and cost effectiveness.
Manage the district's footwear program, including coordination with vendors, communication with departments, and monitoring program effectiveness in reducing incidents and injuries.
Oversee climbing wall safety inspections, ensuring inspections are performed in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, industry standards, and applicable regulations. Maintain documentation and corrective actions to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
Manage student transportation in private vehicles, ensuring compliance with Board Policy EEAG, district guidelines, and requesting/reviewing motor vehicle records.
Analyze injury and loss data to identify trends and make safety and loss-control recommendations. Coordinate and schedule safety training upon request.
Manage student injury reporting in Public School Works. Yearly update of recipient and finalizer district personnel. Collaborate jointly with schools and internal departments on safety corrective actions in mitigation of future incidents.
Participate in meetings with other member school districts within the Excess-of-Loss Self-Insurance Pool. Coordinate the work of the Third-Party Administrators (TPAs). Collaborate with other Colorado districts' Risk Managers on loss control initiatives, insurance contracts, and claim discussions.
Maintain risk management program records, including claims filing, LPS certificates of insurance, contract review, restitution, development of accident/incident reporting procedures, and safety awareness communications. Assist with and review written communications for accuracy and clarity pertaining to claim reporting processes and procedures.
Maintain charter school relations and exposure data to include in the district's insurance programs.
Represent Littleton Public Schools through active participation in professional organizations, including the Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA).
Serve on the district's Reunification and Safe Schools Design Teams.
Performance of other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.
Experience
Minimum of three years' experience in risk management, administering insurance and risk management programs, including but not limited to property, liability, automobile, and workers' compensation.
Knowledge of state and federal laws related to school districts and liability, including workers' compensation.
Knowledge of current practices and trends in the insurance field.
Education
Bachelor's degree in risk management or other related field.
Risk Management certification desirable.
Training in risk management and personnel.
Salary Range: minimum $36,000 - midpoint $48,000 for 253 days at 4 hours a day.
