Job Title: Risk Management Coordinator
About the Role
Boone County is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Risk Management Coordinator to support county-wide risk management programs and employee leave administration. This role plays a key part in protecting county operations by managing insurance claims, supporting compliance with employment laws, and promoting workplace safety.
The ideal candidate will enjoy problem-solving, collaborating across departments, and helping maintain a safe and compliant work environment for county employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer Boone County’s risk management programs, including workers’ compensation, liability, property, and casualty coverage.
- Manage employee leave programs in compliance with federal and state employment laws, including FMLA and ADA.
- Provide case management for insurance claims, serving as a liaison between insurers, legal counsel, and other involved parties.
- Monitor ongoing litigation, review claims, track expenses, and report claim status to the Director.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and training programs related to safety, compliance, and risk mitigation.
- Chair the Safety Committee and help promote a culture of workplace safety.
- Conduct workplace inspections and internal investigations as needed.
- Assist with accident and incident investigations and prepare analytical reports.
- Provide backup administrative support for Human Resources operations.
Position Details
Location: Boone County
Status: Full-time, Exempt, Benefited
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Salary Range: $62,940 – $64,854 annually (commensurate with experience)
What You Bring
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Management, Accounting, or Paralegal Studies, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least 2 years of relevant experience.
Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
Insurance or claims administration
Workers’ compensation
Employment or civil litigation
Workplace safety or loss prevention
