We are currently looking for a full-time non-exempt Loan Underwriter to join our team! In this role, you will review and evaluate loan applications and supporting documentation to determine whether to approve, deny, or counteroffer, using strong analytical skills, sound underwriting practices, and a thorough understanding of SELCO policies and guidelines.
This position will report onsite to the Corporate Headquarters location in Springfield, Oregon and is possibly eligible for a hybrid onsite and remote work arrangement for those who meet the program requirements. The successful candidate will need to be available to work Monday through Friday from 8am to 6pm with some rotating Saturdays.
COMPENSATION
Base Salary: The full salary range for the Loan Underwriter position is $25.35 to $36.75 per hour.
Annual Incentive: In addition, all SELCO team members receive an annual incentive based on how well SELCO meets the prior year’s strategic business goals. This incentive is calculated using the team member’s prior year eligible earnings and ranges from 0%-12% (with the average payout over the last five years being 11.07%).

POSITION DETAILS
Essential Functions include (please see the position description for a comprehensive list):
- Apply sound underwriting judgment within established SELCO policies, guidelines, and authority limits to review and decision a high volume of loan applications across multiple channels (branch, online, phone, retail).
- Read and analyze documents such as credit reports, tax documents, etc.
- Clearly document loan decisions, observations, and recommendations.

- Ability to discover member needs to effectively cross-sell SELCO’s products and services.
- Effective communication and active listening skills through all methods of interaction (e.g., in person, via phone, and in writing).
Requirements
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; and
- At least three (3) years of consumer lending experience; and
- Consumer loan underwriting experience is preferred, but not required; and
- Must be bondable.
