Aon are currently recruiting a Risk and Insurance Director to join our team in London.
Aon Global Risk Consulting provides integrated solutions to help clients understand and improve their risk profile to increase profitability and protect their interests.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Risk and Insurance Director to work with one our prestigious global clients in the real estate investment management sector. The position will provide insurance and risk management advice and support for the European region and coordinate with global risk management as required for projects and corporate programmes. The position may require international travel, primarily within Europe.
The position has a dual reporting line to the Construction Director with dotted line reporting to the heads of risk management in the US.

What the day will look like
- Providing insurance and risk management advice and support to the European region.
- Negotiation and analysis of insurance and risk provisions of corporate and client programmes. Providing objective critique of carriers, coverage, pricing and capabilities.
- Review or develop a Risk Management Manual/Guidelines which addresses key issues and procedures. Identify essential subject matter and procedures for inclusion, such as certificates of insurance, contract review, special activities, claims reporting, loss control and coverage summaries
- Managing local and regional insurance data for the real estate portfolio. This will include working closely with Joint Venture partners and local asset and property managers.
- Supporting colleagues and Joint Venture partners on acquisitions and disposals in the portfolio. Alongside this, recommending insurance requirements for individual deals and procuring these with Aon broker partners.
- Coordinating global programme renewals and liaising with other global risk managers for this procurement.
- Working closely with the Aon claims team and loss adjusters to analyse and assess claims and loss information. Supporting colleagues in the management of claims, particularly large losses, and considering the broader business impact of these.
- Negotiating commercial positions on behalf of the firm, such as with clients and lawyers, including contractual negotiations, drafting of directives and technical insurance issues.
- Assisting with identifying and implementing risk management practices for the firm and its businesses.
- Providing support for enterprise risk projects as requested.
- Responsible for working in accordance with the Aon UK Limited Risk Management Framework, and compliance with the Aon UK Limited policies, including participation in the management of risks (including completion of mandatory training) that may adversely affect the business, interests or reputation of any Group Company.

Skills and experience that will lead to success
- Relevant general insurance and actual risk management experience.
- Thorough knowledge of all areas of commercial insurance and international insurance practices.
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships with brokers, insurers, vendors, and clients.
- Familiarity with established risk management practices; awareness of current risk management issues.
- General knowledge of legal process; experience in working directly with legal counsel.
- Administrative and organisational skills critical; excellent time management skills, flexibility and management of a variety of tasks simultaneously is necessary.
- Flexibility regarding assignments; responsiveness to the needs of the firm and its clients.
- Understanding of real estate operations, not essential but an advantage.
- Fluency in European languages is an advantage.
